We just completed two tremendously successful August macro workshops in northern Michigan.  Now we are preparing to teach four autumn color workshops that include the Grand Tetons, Northern Michigan, and the Smoky Mountains.

Due to the unprecedented times we are living in, we have reduced the enrollment in our workshops.  Instead of 18 in Michigan, we are limiting each of the two workshops to only 12 and we have a comprehensive plan for dealing with Covid.  Should we have to cancel any of these programs due to the virus, rest assured we will refund all recoverable monies,  just like we did for the spring workshops that could not go forward.  We want everyone to stay healthy, have a fantastic time learning photography, while enjoying the exquisite autumn color sites we know so well. We are taking reservations for all the programs listed here, but the Grand Tetons is sold out and the first Michigan workshop has only one spot available.  The second Michigan workshop has room for four and the Smoky Mountains has room for three.

The full brochure is available on this page by clicking on the appropriate Details button, and you can call Dixie directly to enroll.  Call her at (812) 350-0799!

Much is happening and we will announce new programs later this year for real small groups!

Many photo groups sponsor our intensive full-day seminar that covers outdoor photography in detail.  We share the tuition with the sponsoring group.  Most groups net about $1500 and everyone enjoys the seminar immensely.

We also teach a full-day indoor close-up photo class where we provide 24 stations.  Each has an interesting subject, pleasing photo background, and two LED lamps to effectively light the subject.   When one of these is scheduled, we notify everyone who subscribes to our free website.

I have been a dedicated professional nature photograph since graduating from college in 1976.  I love to photography more than ever, and enjoy teaching nature photography immensely.  In addition, I have written five books and hundreds of published magazine articles on outdoor photography.  Please read the articles posted on this website as they describe photo techniques that work exceedingly well.

I have used a floating blind for decades to approach wildlife in the water to make fabulous images.  The floating blind means it floats your camera gear, and you wear a dry suit or chest waders and walk slowly within the blind it supports. When used properly as described in my article, it is often possible to photograph normally wary wildlife at close range. Imagine being surrounded by wild birds that pay little attention to you as they behave naturally in their wetland environment!

This article shares my passion for using a floating blind to photograph wildlife

Learn the inexpensive method I use to precisely AF microadjust the autofocus on my Canon gear and with any gear my workshop clients bring to me.  As long as your camera offers AF microadjustment or AF fine-tuning, you can make sure you achieve the sharpest possible autofocus.

I began doing this several years ago, and the sharpness improvements have been astounding.  I cannot imagine ignoring this powerful tool.  More than 90% of the gear I have tested for my clients has benefited from AF microadjusting!  Don't be left out!

Once I began lighting the focus target with flash to eliminate camera vibration variables, my results are far easier to interpret and more precise!
